Niki and I got all dolled up for a day at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City to celebrate our anniversary. Niki wore a breathtaking golden dress that I accentuated with a matching tie and a three-pieced blue suit. We observed priceless works of art and blocked out the craziness of the world around us.
I remember holding Niki’s hand while walking up the famed stairs from the Great Hall to the European Paintings and being completely present without distraction. A young woman approached us at the top of the stairs and took me out of that trance. She said to Niki, “You guys looked so elegant that I had to take a photo.” It caught us completely off guard.
This was an act of kindness from a stranger who captured a precious and private moment that otherwise would have been a distant memory. Instead, it became one of our favorite photos that encapsulates our relationship, one we made our lock screens, and framed in an 8×10 frame on our windowsill. She called herself a “girls’ girl” to Niki, knowing my lovely partner would cherish the photo. What this woman didn’t realize is how much this photo means to me as well.
I’m a storyteller at heart. I’m a journalist covering national politics and world news at NewsNation. Before making the transition to network television, I produced local news and business news at WCBS 880 in New York. That’s where I grew as a storyteller, making connections with dedicated members of the local business community. In the control room, I try to never lose sight of the audience member watching our show and the impact we could have.
I also own a production and events business that I founded more than 10 years ago. We work with small businesses to large corporations and individual practitioners to elevate their content marketing through top-tier videography and photography. But what separates our services from the countless production companies and digital marketers is the human touch and my endless pursuit of telling a story.
Every business and every individual has a story that is worth sharing. Why did you start the business? Who are you trying to help? What gives you purpose? Those are questions that make companies relatable and connect with new customers in a genuine way. Then, we tell that story in an entertaining and an engaging way that aligns with the brand.
How did you meet? Why did you fall in love? When did you know you wanted to spend the rest of your lives together? Those are questions people love to ask and couples love to answer. Niki teases me because I love sharing the story of how we met. If you ask me, I will gladly gush about how I met my wonderful girl!
